Aleali May’s “Get It Together” Series Visits ASAP Ferg, Ghetto Gastro and Tony Hawk in Harlem

Aleali May is back at it again shining a new light on the way fashion is expressed in different cities with her series “Get It Together” by Complex. On the finale of the show, May brought in the perspectives of A$AP Ferg, Tony Hawk and Jon Gray of Ghetto Gastro to talk about fashion in Harlem and The Bronx.
Known for his rap skills, A$AP Ferg goes deep into his fashion background that began in Harlem long before his music career took off. With making 500-1000s tees to sell, Ferg built his platform from the ground up with a group of friends in a basement. The rapper explains what silk city is and what that means to his community.
Ghetto Gastro is a group that does all things food, art, design and fashion combined with social action. Gastro remembers his first time seeing style from his aunt and her collection of Jordans.
And Tony Hawk is, well, Tony Hawk. Hawk flew off in skateboarding fashion as a young kid before he got fame with his skating skills. Being one of the first well known skaters, Hawk recalls brands like Supreme beginning as skate shops and turning into fashion lines for everyone.
Jon Gray, Tony Hawk and Ferg gather at the Gastro Lab in The Bronx to build off one another’s fashion lifestyles. The three are artists in every form and all want to represent their backgrounds through fashion and exploration of art.
“The brand is cool but it’s about the people,” Jon Gray says.
