The California music scene has carved out its sound with the likes of Tyler the Creator, Kendrick Lamar, YG, and more. Alongside these heavyweights, the eccentric sounds of the state have made its way to the mainstream as well, and you can see this with The Internet’s lead act, Syd and her latest project, “Always Never Home”.
Following the success of her debut solo project, “Fin”, she continues to provide the lo-fi midnight inspired flavor to her sound and it’s perfectly wrapped in a three-track package on this new EP. Starting with the rhythmic bounce that’s provided on the ballad of "wanting self-assurance” record “Moving Mountains” to the hypnotic bedroom vibes of Bad Dream/No Looking Back” and ending its magic ride with the new age electronic bass infused single, “On The Road”. The duration of the project may be short but it embodies a solid body of work that shows back and forth of relationships, a craving for your partner, and providing a strong sense of cool when it’s all said and done.
It’s an overlooked piece of work for most but it fits in the perfect pocket for delivering a short playlist for the listener and them leaving away with records that have high replay value.
