Houston's own pop star, BBY KODIE drops the surprise of the summer "TEEN ICON"
Written by Greg Harris
The quick emergence of BBY KODIE has thoroughly been filtered through his organic following and a large presence of differentiation in the sense of what he brings to the Houston music scene. Making a huge splash into the game with his loose string and his impressive debut, "Kodie Kardashian", BBY KODIE has easily modified himself as one of the best and exciting artists to come out of the Bayou City's music scene this year.
Creating a hell of track record preceding this summer, he brings forth the surprise project of the summer for Houston with his sophomore project, "TEEN ICON". Sticking to the same ingredients to the prior piece of work, KODIE is still sarcastic + snarky but it's enhanced in a way that brings out more of his character in his material. You can find it in songs such as "Kraken", where it uses a low-fi beat that favors a car alarm and finds KODIE spitting bars about how inspires to put Houston on new + different shit and in "All 4 U" he spits more bars about his mother and his family and how we wants to work hard enough to achieve things not only for himself but for his loved ones.
Seeing this piece of work, you find KODIE coming into his own even more, not only as an artist but also a producer (the complexity of "Mariah Kodie" takes a route that puts KODIE in another dimension on how he delivers on the record). The growth he's showcasing is something that H-Town needs to pay attention to before it reaches the rest of the nation on a grand scale.
